If you are new to our audience or have not read our Advisor Alliance articles yet, we always start them with a little "disclaimer". Not because we need to, but because we want you, our reader, to understand why we publish vendor focused articles. These are not paid advertorials. These are simply a way for us to share with you the many partner programs that are in place and available to you as a small business advisor. With that said, this week we are sharing with you the informal Partner Program available from Abacus, a cloud based expense management solution. I spoke with Dev Anand who heads up Business Operations for the company for this alliance article.
IA: What is the name of your advisor/accountant program?
DA: It is an informal program where we work closely with Accountants. They are just referred to as our Accountant partners.
IA: Is there a fee to be part of your program?
DA: There is no Fee, just an understanding of how our platform works and what makes us unique.
IA: Is the advisor/accountant a reseller or more of a lead generator for Abacus?
DA: It is more of a lead gen relationship than a reseller since the billing relationship is between Abacus and the end-client.
IA: What benefits do advisors receive for being a part of your program (What’s in it for the Advisor?)
DA: Accountants receive a free Abacus account for their firm, as well as 2 free months of the service for clients that they refer to us. They do not have monetary incentives, but their clients do benefit from 2 months of free use of service. The big benefit for the firm is in having a system in place that reduces the time spent on expense management. Happier client, happier accountant, a lot less time spent managing expenses.
IA: Are there any specific training requirements for the Advisor? If so, how long does it take for an advisor to become “certified”
DA: All it takes is one phone call with the Abacus team to get a product run-through to familiarize Accountants with how Abacus works. It is a very intuitive platform and the training is minimal.
IA: Did we miss anything that would be important for an advisor to know about your partner program?
DA: In addition to it's ease of use and intuitive design, the key points are:
- Abacus is free for the firm to use
- Abacus handles reimbursement so saves you money and time.
- Abacus syncs with Accounting software, so that saves you time as well
- Abacus is beautifully designed so your client is a lot happier
