Wouldn’t it be nice to have reliable and predictable customer relationships to sustain your business? Wouldn’t it be amazing to only spend time with customers and people that you truly value and enjoy working with? Join me at Scaling New Heights this year to explore how you can grow your ideal client base through automation.
Getting Started
Managing professional relationships along with your current customer base is an incredibly important part of growing a sustainable business. Professional relationships lead to all sorts of new opportunities. Focusing on established customer relationships is as important as finding new customers, and when done with the right frequency and touch, can be more fulfilling for your professional success in the long term.
With an abundance of tools available to you that help you manage customer relationships – from CRMs and email marketing platforms, to customer loyalty programs – the range of options can be daunting. But what few people realize is that it just takes a few simple (and free!) tools to get customer retention and relationship management initiatives started.
Leveraging Social Media
One of the easiest ways to get started in maintaining professional relationships is keeping up with them on social media. Acts as simple as saying “Happy Birthday!”, “Congratulations!”, commenting and liking posts, and displaying an authentic show of support demonstrates that you really care about their personal and professional success. As a part of your customer onboarding procedure, like and follow their business pages on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Twitter. Make sure you’re receiving notifications when they post. Do the same for new professional contacts.
Simple steps and actions such as these are often overlooked, but make a big impact over time. Not only do these actions show you care, but they also keep you and your business top of mind. They’re not going to forget about you the next time they’re asked for a referral.
Beyond Social Media
If you’re looking to dig a little deeper to really stay up to date with your client’s activity, consider setting up Google Alerts, a free tool available to anyone with a Google account. A Google alert can be created for your customer’s name, company, product, or service. You’ll receive an email whenever they’re mentioned online. You can use this information to reach out to your customer in a timely and personalized fashion, or better yet, comment on their activity such as blog posts. As with social media, this shows support of their efforts while increasing your exposure to their professional network. It can also keep you informed of where their business is headed and can help you better serve them.
