On January 23 (2020) those nominees who were qualified to go forward into this year's Domestic (2020) Top 100/ProAdvisor of the Year process were notified by email of their personalized Formal Application website landing pages. Since that time only a small number of individuals have completed their applications.
While you still have until March 25 at 11:59 pm (Pacific) to submit your application, we normally would have had a greater percentage of applicants completed by now, so I want to take this opportunity to remind you of this requirement and the deadline. We know with 'Spring Break' and '1040 Tax Time' right around the corner, you can get busy and let this critical deadline pass you by and with it your chances of being in this year's Top 100. So why not take this extra day of the year this year (aka: 'Leap Year Day' - February 29, 2020) and complete your application!
If you haven't completed your application there are a few things to remember when doing so:
- You are completing an application 'about yourself,' not 'your firm.' When we ask you about 'your clients' that is exactly what we mean, 'your' clients... those are the clients you actually work with even if you are part of a 'big firm' and are not a 'solo' practitioner. We are evaluating you as an individual ProAdvisor, not your firm.
- A vast majority of the questions we ask, in both our 'short form' for those who have been in the Top 100 either of the last 2 years, or the 'long form' if you are new to this process (or you choose to complete the long form even if you have been in Top 100 before), are geared toward our categorical classifications (QuickBooks Desktop ProAdvisor, QuickBooks Online ProAdvisor, Trainer/Writer ProAdvisor, our QuickBooks Desktop Integration Specialist, and our QuickBooks Online Appologist, as well as our other categories). As you progress your way through the various questions, you can see how questions about 'certification' and 'training' and 'credentialing' tie the various categories. You can also see how 'training hours' and specific activities about which we inquire are associated with the categories, although some may be associated with more than one category.
- You should also be able to identify how many of the questions we ask about your practice and clients tie to the same 'categories.' Obviously, if we are asking you about "what percentage of your clients are QuickBooks Desktop in contrast to QuickBooks Online" you should be able to understand how important that is to relate that critical information, so that you receive the highest possible score for the most appropriate category. If you tell us that all of your certifications and training are in QuickBooks Online, but then you mistakenly tell us that 100% of your clients are using QuickBooks Desktop, something 'very odd' is going to happen when it comes down to your final score (I can promise). This is why it is very, very important you take time to check each and every answer to your formal application.
- In regard to our Canadian Participants in this year's process, we made 'MAJOR' changes to our 'application form' to provide greater opportunities for you to provide specifics about your Canadian education, training, certifications, seminar/conference participation and related information. To our knowledge every Intuit course and certification available to you as a Canadian ProAdvisor is listed in this year's application. We also included specific conferences and events we were aware of, so there should be no reason why you shouldn't be able to convey all the information needed to evaluate your standing in regard to your fellow nominees from Canada.
So once again, I simply wanted to take this opportunity to remind those of you who have NOT completed your formal application that they are still outstanding, and due by March 25th. To those of you who have have done finished your applications already, thank you.
