Revel Shell Partnership
Royal Dutch Shell, who most of us know as Shell Gasoline, with currently more than 43,000 retail locations in the United States and abroad, has teamed up with Revel Systems, for iPad point-of-sale registers specifically designed for gas stations that connect payments at the pump to Shell's enterprise applications.
Shell sells more than 160-billion (that's billion, with a "B") liters of fuel and does $6 billion in convenience retails sales annually.
The deal is the largest in the history of Revel, which also powers Intuit's QuickBooks iPad based Point-of-Sale solution that was designed to work with QuickBooks Online.
Since the time Inuit and a few other investors provided venture funding for Revel in the amount of $100 million, and entered into the agreement with regard to the Intuit QBPOS powered by Revel product, Revel has set-out to attract some very large accounts, including Focus Brands, which owns Cinnabon and the Auntie Anne's food chains, and Goodwill Industries.
Revel and Shell personnel will work together on the installation and support of the Point-of-Sale system. No estimate was given as to how quickly the product would begin, nor how long it would take to outfit all the thousands of retailers with the new product.
