Editor’s Note: In the continual pursuit of business as usual in the aftermath of the recent pandemic, there have been myriad lessons learned. To see how some of the industry’s leading professionals handled the situation, we asked our Top 100 ProAdvisors to share some of their insights. Following is another in a series of our conversations with them. Here's Brilliant Solutions Group's Mariko Hayashi-Hall:
What has/have been the most impactful change(s) you have made in your firm over the last 18 months?
We have focused on scaling and security. We have been streamlining processes and implementing new software to assist with project management, client communication, file sharing, proposal management and systems security. We also are working on updating our business site, which we hope will have a significant impact on viewer traffic and proposal requests.
How have these changes impacted your overall business?
The nature of a new system or process implementation is that it exposes areas that need some nurturing and clean-up. It has been tremendous to see the bones of our day-to-day activity in the light. It has given us an opportunity to make things more efficient, thus allowing more time for us to do training and to interact with one another and clients.
What were the most challenging aspects of implementing these changes and how did you overcome the challenges?
The challenge is always being able to take an honest look at what we are doing and be willing to let things go that are not working or can be replaced with something that would be more efficient. The proverbial teaching old dog, new tricks.
Also, being able to get clients who have been with you for a while to do something different than what they have been accustomed to doing can be difficult, or at least getting them to make the initial leap can be, but after utilizing the new system they recognize the value and ease.
