Private sector employment increased by only 179,000 jobs from October to November, in comparison to the past couple of months, according to the November 2018 ADP National Employment Report®. Broadly distributed to the public each month, free of charge, the ADP National Employment Report is produced by the ADP Research Institute® in collaboration with Moody’s Analytics. The report, which is derived from ADP’s actual payroll data, measures the change in total non-farm private employment each month on a seasonally-adjusted basis.
The report further elaborates job growth by company size and sector as shown below.
Company Size*
Small businesses: 46,000 (1-19 employees: 13,000, 20-49 employees: 33,000)
Medium businesses: 119,000 (50-499 employees: 119,000)
Large businesses: 13,000 (500-900 employees: 20,000, 1000+ employees: -7,000)
Sector*
Goods-producing: 16,000 (construction increased by 10,000, and manufacturing increased by 4,000 while natural resources & mining increased by 2,000)
Service-providing - 163,000 (which included Professional/business services at 59,000, Education & Health at 49,000, Leisure & Hospitality at 26,000, Trade/transportation/utilities at 18,000, and Financial Activities at 8,000)
Franchise Employment: 11,500 (franchise-related jobs increased by 11,500)
