Intuit has issued another release update starting with the manual release (to be followed by the push-out of automatic updates) for maintenance release R10 for the 2017 Desktop product line.
The following changes, improvements, and fixes are included in maintenance release R10 for QuickBooks Desktop Pro 2017, QuickBooks Desktop Premier 2017 and QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise 17.0. Later releases (ones with higher numbers) include all changes in earlier releases.
This R10 release for the 2017 products essentially does much of what the recent R6 update did for the 2018 product line about 3 weeks ago, and last weeks R14 update for the 2016 products.
Bank Feeds - For users of Capital One bank, this maintenance release will require you to perform a special one-time set-up in order to continue use of 'bank feeds'. This is required so you can use the upgraded technology which Capital One has mandated for on-line 'bank feed' users.
There are also two other 'fixes' in this release for 2017, these include a fix for bank feed numeric error 194 which was displayed with band routing numbers didn't contain all 9 digits. The fix requires all 9 digits to be entered prior to saving the bank identification information.
Some users had reported that QuickBooks would crash when they attempted to deactivate and reset Express Web Connect bank account access. R10 reportedly resolves the issue causing this problem.
Payroll (Pay Stubs) - There has been in issue in which some employees actually received the pay-stub for another employee and were able to open it with their own password. The R10 maintenance release reportedly resolves this error.
Payments - As part of this R10 maintenance release, all first-time users who have never sent an e-invoice to their customers will have a reminder displayed advising them to send e-invoices after every 7th invoice emailed.
Error 80029c4a - Maintenance release R10 reportedly makes improvements to the installation process to reduce the occurrence of this error.
While I have not heard that these same 'updates' have caused any problems in either the 2018 or 2016 products, I still recommend waiting a brief time to see if any issues arise out of this newest maintenance release; however, if you are making use of these features you may wish to proceed with download and update. If you do not want to proceed, now is the time to turn off 'automatic updates' on all your QuickBooks installations as Intuit will be pushing out these updates over the next few days even though they are already available for 'manual update' from Intuit's official Downloads and Update website. By the way, if you have not seen it, the "Downloads and Update" page has undergone some revisions as of late.
