This program will address the tax topics and issues requiring practitioner awareness involving foreign reporting requirements, charitable donations of property, conflicts of interest in filings during divorce and/or married filing jointly, elections and their impact on the business or availability thereof, as well as other risk management topics involving software and automation and planning. The program will provide an overview of regulatory and legal issues that impact accountants, and address risk management issues that should be considered.
During this session, we will:
- Discuss the use of tax compliance software and planning tools in tax preparation services
- Address more common technical or substantive tax issues that plague the practitioner which could result in unintended penalties to the taxpayer
- Discuss the impact of evolving tax law changes and servicing the client subject to these changes
- Identify the common reasons accountants are sued and discuss likely sources of complaints arising from tax season
