I have been a facilitator at every Scaling New Heights conference since inception in 2009. I thank my friend and colleague Joe Woodard and the entire Woodard organization for the continued confidence they place in me to present at a conference with a reputation for providing the highest quality learning experiences for its attendees.
This year I was invited to lead three sessions: “Implementing Inventory like a Pro – Key Problems and Questions for Clients with Inventory”, “QuickBooks Enterprise Advanced Inventory Management” (2-part course), and “QuickBooks on a Local Network – Best Practices.”
In “Implementing Inventory like a Pro,” we examine the key areas and questions faced by clients with inventory. Veteran attendees of the show already know about my firm’s extensive experience implementing solutions for different kinds of inventory businesses. Many say how there is no greater teacher than experience. This session allows me to impart that real-life experience with class participants.
In 2007, I was front and center at the announcement where Intuit first released the QuickBooks Enterprise Advanced Inventory module. I knew this put QuickBooks Enterprise essentially on the same playing field with other mid-market solutions. Ever since, I have consulted with Intuit product managers on the enhancement of Advanced Inventory functions. A year ago, I was commissioned to author several sections of the QuickBooks Enterprise ProAdvisor Certification course and exam, including Advanced Inventory. Being so devoted to the development of the module, I am excited to facilitate the “QuickBooks Enterprise Advanced Inventory Management” session. In this 2-part course, we dive deep into the functionalities of QuickBooks inventory in and of itself, Advanced Inventory, Enhanced Inventory Receiving, and Advanced Pricing modules.
When I started in accounting systems consulting in the early 1990s, I immediately saw the need for expertise in network infrastructures, platforms where to run such accounting systems. So I decided to take on the installation and support of local area networks, servers, workstations, network hubs, switches, routers, and more. In fact, in several of my first installations, the arms and hands of this techie CPA actually laid network wiring through walls and inside ceilings. There is something to say about actual hands-on experience! Whether completing IT tasks yourself or communicating with IT specialists, you need to be more than familiar with IT concepts. That is why I designed my “QuickBooks on a Local Network” session, to build on fundamental networking concepts and discuss implementation scenarios and best practices for QuickBooks networking.
As we approach Scaling New Heights 2016 in Atlantis, I reflect on one of the highlight moments of the past year – winning the Top Integrations ProAdvisor award at the 2015 Scaling New Heights conference. It was remarkable to share the award with them, and to share it with my family with me at the conference. Sharing the experience with the people I love and the people I work with was very fulfilling. They are ultimately the reason why I do what I do.
Here’s to a great SNH 2016!
