Our March 2021 QB Talks being held at 2:00 PM (1 PM Central) on Wednesday, March 17, 2021, features an Introduction to QuickBooks Commerce, Intuit's new eCommerce solution.
QuickBooks Commerce (QBC) is a cloud-based inventory SaaS (Software-as-a-Service) application for small-to-medium sized businesses. Intuit announced the acquisition of TradeGecko in August of 2020 and rebranded the product as QuickBooks Commerce last September, so while this product is new to Intuit it has been around since 2012.
QBC has an easy GUI (graphic user interface) that pretty well mirrors QuickBooks even down to the fact that the left-hand navigation bar collapses so you can maximize the window you are working in. Since you will be using QBC for eCommerce you are most likely going to connect to one of your sales channels and then import your products and stock information as well as your customers (if you track them individually). QBC works with most major channels that eCommerce businesses use to sell their products, including Shopify, Amazon, eBay, Etsy, WooCommerce, Magento, Zapier, ShipStation, and more integrations. But you should note that your QBC subscription level determines the number of ‘channels’ you have access to, as well as the number of ‘transactions per month.’
In terms of using the product, this is probably the point at which you are also going to connect to your new QuickBooks Online or QBO-Advanced subscription. (The specific version of QBO will ultimately depend on your transaction volume and other requirements.) But there is an issue at least for now. Intuit is presently only allowing you to subscribe to QBC if you don’t already have a QBO or QBO-Advanced subscription, and to subscribe to QBC you must also subscribe to a new QBO or QBO-Advanced account at the same time… so it’s a ‘package’ offering. Nevertheless, you will probably have some clients who are in need of QBC, or who have been wanting to change/upgrade, and this maybe the time to 'work a deal' to get both products if eCommerce is their thing because this new platform really is a slick product.
