Did you know that effective October 1 merchants accepting cards for payment may be liable for fraudulent transactions if they are not EMV-compliant? I was not aware of this, so it seemed like something that was worth passing along.
U.S. credit card companies are finally making the transition from magnetic stripe technology to cards with chips which are based on a global card payment standard called EMV. EMV stands for Europay, Mastercard and Visa and is currently in use in over 80 countries around the world.
If you or your clients accept cards for payment, then you may want to sit in on an upcoming web seminar hosted by the SBA or view the archive of their August 26th event. You can register for the October 14 by CLICKING HERE or view the archive by CLICKING HERE. If would like a copy of the presentation to follow along during the presentation you may download it by CLICKING HERE.
