Beep, beep, beep.........QuickBooks ProAdvisor 'Alert'..... (your joking right?)
Last Friday I got my QuickBooks ProAdvisor Alert in an email, there really wasn't anything 'newsworthy' in my way of thinking, it was all pretty old hat. How many of us didn't already know that we can now get our 'old' QuickBooks Online clients migrated to the 'new' QBO? I venture to guess that most ProAdvisors who work with QBO on a day-to-day basis, and QBO clients have already seen the migration take place. But it does sound like 'everyone' will be on the new QBO by the middle of this summer......and then 'guess what', the 'new' QBO will become the 'same old' QBO. The same thing happened to Coke years ago, when they introduced 'new Coke', before long 'old Coke' was back and then who knew what happened but' it was all just 'Coke' after that 'again' like for the hundreds of years before. Don't get me wrong, I like the 'new QBO' much better than the 'old QBO', but when there is 'only one QBO' again....it will be just like having only one 'Coke' to pick from.......'the real thing'.
The Alert also says that they 'fixed' some stuff in their QBPA Mobile App, unfortunately they didn't fix what is wrong with it....it doesn't send out timely 'alerts', who cares if there is a 'time stamp' on messages, I don't look at them anyway, they are so 'out-dated' by the time I get something meaningful it no longer is. They say the Chat is 'optimized'...what does that mean anyway...they never have had the answer to a question I posed yet, so maybe now they will? (What do you want to bet?)
They reminded us of the 'sunset' of support and add-on services for the QuickBooks 2011 product line at the end of this month....if we didn't know that already, then we shouldn't be practicing as a ProAdvisor. It isn't 'us' who don't know that, it is the countless number of 2011 users out there who still don't know it, or are ignoring it. June 1, you can hear the calls, "I can't do payroll', or "The view my paychecks" isn't working, and I know I renewed my payroll subscription." Thank goodness 'my mind' will be focused on getting ready for Scaling New Heights, and I can pawn all those 'smaller upgrades' off on my brother to do for me.....(thanks Malcom, in advance).
Here is an important tip..(but only if you are about 2 years 'behind the game')..you will NOT be able to gain access to the QuickBooks 2013 Certification after July 15 at 11:59pm (Pacific)....if you haven't taken the 2013 certification, and you still want to, buckle down and get it done.
Intuit will offer 'online live webinars' for QBO certification preparation, if you missed out on last fall's traveling 'dog and pony show' marching around the country at like a gazillion places to go over the new QBO, then you might want to check it out...of course you can get the same training 'live....live' (as opposed to live webinar) at Scaling New Heights, June 15-18, so just get your act together and get to San Antonio and forget those live-webinars.
And that's my take on the Alert....."beep, beep, beep"........
