Intuit has begun to roll-out the Maintenance Release 15 (R15) Update to the 2019 QuickBooks Desktop product line. The changes, improvements and fixes elaborated below were included in this release for QuickBooks Pro 2019, QuickBooks Premier 2019, QuickBooks Accountant 2019 and QuickBooks Enterprise v19.0.
Be aware that each new update also includes all the changes from earlier updates. If you have automatic updates turned on, QuickBooks will download the updates for you and prompt you to install it. You can manually download the update from the Official Intuit QuickBooks Downloads and Updates Webpage (product/version specific). If you don't want this update automatically downloaded, NOW is the time to turn-off Auto Updates.
Release 15 (R15) - April 2021
What's Important in Release 15 (non-italics), Editor's commentary (in italics).
User Management
- Non Admin users of QuickBooks Enterprise with the accounts payable role can now send a Request for Access to the Primary Admin to join the company file Intuit account. This is simply more of the same login requirement management that Intuit implemented over the past many months. Note also the change in terminology (as they did in QBO) from 'Master Admin' to 'Primary Admin' so as not to be socially offensive to anyone.
Account Management
- Accessing 'Manage My QuickBooks Account', from the Help menu, no longer requires an Intuit Account to sign in if the user has already done so elsewhere in the file. Still more changes related to the overall administration of the QuickBooks Company File to the QuickBooks License to the QuickBooks Registration records held by Intuit.
Payroll Direct Deposit
When activating direct deposit for payroll, a user that is neither Primary nor Secondary Admin can Request for Access from the Primary Admin.
Issue fix
- Fixed issue (sometimes referred to as 'a bug') where a Processed Payment Receipt wasn't aligned after processing a transaction.
Should You Update?
I don't see anything in R15 that won't wait for at least a week to give time to hear what others might experience if they go ahead and install it.
If you aren't in a rush then hold off for a week to 10 days to see if anyone experience issues, so you may want to make certain that 'Auto-updates' have been turned-off inside QuickBooks until you are ready to proceed with this update.
If you do proceed with updating to R15, let us know if you experience issues by posting comments to this article.
