So I saw some nifty Apps while I was at Scaling New Heights last week in New Orleans. I always am on the lookout for two different kinds of software products; first those that I might like to write a feature story about, and second, those that either interest me for my own practice or some of my clients. When a product fits both categories, then I am really excited.
Well I ran across a couple of Apps that I thought were nifty for sure, they are both ‘cloud based’ applications, but one of them works with QuickBooks Online, and the other works with QuickBooks desktop products.
I’m sure I will be bringing you a few more of my favorites (first time seen by me) in the days and weeks to come, but for now here is just a peak at TransferMate Global Payments’ Multi-currency Payment App for QBO, and eRequester which may expand, streamline and automate your purchasing and payables process for QuickBooks Desktop.
Multi-currency (International) Payment App for QuickBooks Online
This little web-based App allows you to make international payments in the appropriate currencies, from QuickBooks Online (US). The App is free and it integrates with QBO seamlessly and takes only minutes to register and configure. It eliminates the need to make bank transfers (wires) at those expensive bank rates on top of international currency conversion costs. This application boosts that they have better exchange rates and lower fees on all international payments, and they put their money where their mouth is and guarantee that you will experience those lower costs.
To process payments you simply enter your bills in QuickBooks Online normally, but you must have the multiple currency feature activated. Then visit the App host which is www.transfermate.com/quickbooksonline to register (at no expense). Once you have logged-in to the App and connected to your QBO account, you can choose to process either a single invoice or multiple invoices at one time. During that process you will receive live to the moment exchange rates from which you decide if you want to make your payments. All completed transactions post immediately into QuickBooks Online and the appropriate currency/exchange gains/losses are recorded in your records. In the demo I saw, it looked slick as a whistle (toot toot).
This cloud solution works with QuickBooks (desktop) Premier and Enterprise providing enhanced purchasing and expense management that begins with an expanded work-flow. How many times have you had a QuickBooks Client tell you that they wished QuickBooks had a requisition system in order to request a purchase prior to the issuance of an actual Purchase Order? Well ‘eRequester’ can do that, and a whole lot more. This tool also gives you enhanced user capabilities because it supports far more users than QuickBooks itself, you can have 5 users working in eRequester at the same time you have 5 users working in QuickBooks. An unlimited user version of eRequester is also available.
With eRequester your personnel can obtain a pre-authorization for a purchase prior to the creation of a PO or Expense Request, then allow eRequester to automatically create Purchase Orders from those approved requisitions. eRequester integrates with your desktop version of QuickBooks seamlessly at the Name, Account and Item levels. eRequester then emails those Purchase Orders and other documents directly to the appropriate vendor(s) and then control the flow of Vendor bills by posting those approved by you directly into QuickBooks as Vendor Bills to be paid. There are a variety of optional modules that you can plug-in as needed, for example, eRequester offers a budget/project module that allows you to track spending against your established budget(s) or project(s).
