This “Meet the Instructor” series will give you an opportunity to get to know some of the superstars offering cutting edge training at Scaling New Heights in Atlantis.
We’re kicking off the series with one of Scaling New Heights’ most veteran instructors: MB Raimondi.
MB Raimondi is teaching the 5-part QuickBooks Desktop Advanced ProAdvisor Certification
Exam Preparation track. We asked MB to share with us why she teaches and why you should consider attending her classes. Here’s what she has to say:
“I have the privilege of teaching the Advanced Certification Prep for QuickBooks Desktop. It is intense. It’s educational. It’s 5 sessions. And I promise it will be rewarding. And…we’ll have as much fun as we can talking about accounting software!
Why do I teach certifications? Well, to be honest, when Joe and Carol ask so nicely, how could I resist? No, seriously, I love teaching QuickBooks. I’ve been teaching QuickBooks since 1999 both to end users and accountants, consultants, bookkeepers and ProAdvisors. When I first started my CPA practice, I taught accounting on the college level and found that I really liked teaching. I didn’t necessarily like grading papers, writing exams, giving out grades etc…but I liked seeing the light bulbs go off for my students when they did their first bank reconciliation and it balanced or when debits and credits clicked with them. As my practice got busy, I stopped teaching, but knew that I wanted to get back to it one day. When the opportunity came up to teach QuickBooks, I jumped at it. Not only would I not have to grade papers, write and correct exams, I knew my students wanted to be in my class. They wanted to learn QuickBooks. And I wanted to teach it to them. And here I am 16+ years later, still teaching.
Back to the question at hand – why teach certifications? It’s a big commitment of time and resources on your part to become certified. That tells me that you really want to do it and you really want to learn the ins and outs of QuickBooks. You are the type of person I want in my class. You’re motivated. You’re willing to make the commitment. You want to increase your knowledge. You want to be better equipped to help your clients. Plus, you have experiences that can help other students.
"I have been working with MB Raimondi for over a decade. She is unsurpassed in her knowledge of QuickBooks and in her ability to clearly communicate complex, advanced technology concepts in a group learning environment. She is organized, insightful, clear…and powerful!" Joe Woodard-Host, Scaling New Heights
So, the next question is….why would you want to attend Advanced Certification Prep for QuickBooks Desktop? I’ve talked to a lot of ProAdvisors about the advanced certifications and often hear that they want to become Advanced Certified but just can’t seem to make the time to prep for the exam. Our lives get busy. I get that. It does take a lot of time to prepare for an advanced exam – and then there’s the time needed to take the exam itself. Coming to Scaling New Heights gives you the perfect opportunity to prepare to take the exam. You won’t get distracted with everything else going on in your practice and your life. You’ll attend the 5 sessions and maybe even take parts of the exam in the evening. (I say maybe because there’s a lot going on in the evening too at SNH.) Even if you are not eligible to become advanced certified, you may want to come for the in depth knowledge that’s part of the advanced training. Learn about considerations of setting up a file, using the accountant tools, special transactions, job costing, inventory, reporting and more.
Hope to see you there.”
