Cyber Insurance

Few enjoy paying insurance premiums of any sort and though in the insurance business for 28 years, I have never been an advocate of "over insurance". The threat of cybercrime is real however, I see it everyday in my business (and we all see it regularly in the news). I fully recommend the best anti-virus and other preventative measures you can take to protect your data, fiduciary responsibilities and client confidentiality. But if the bad guys can access the government, utilities and big corporate, they can get to all of us. Everybody has their risk tolerance and insurance budget. Cybercrime insurance is available in many coverage options and price points. While it's an individual choice as to whether one wants to consider insurance or purchase it, we should not dismiss the threat of a breach or importance of protection based on a general assumption that insurance companies just want your money or that we are not vulnerable to cybercrime.

Cyber Insurance

I never have worried about this. When I first purchased my General Liability insurance, Cyber insurance was automatically included. Plus the policy I got thru USAA was lower then State Farm that I had the first year in business that didn't include Cyber Insurance. You need to shop around, and I think the companies that started including this in their policy 4-5 years ago new this was a coverage we would all need at some point in time. I am just glad it has been party of my policy for the last 5 years. I am very careful with security of all my data, but knowing I am covered helps me sleep at night.
