Julie Lubetkin, Vice President, Accountant Channel, Bill.com
Do you know Julie Lubetkin? Julie is the Vice President, Accountant Channel at Bill.com. I recently had the opportunity to meet with Julie on my trip to Las Vegas and have been working with her on a web seminar we are producing for Bill.com that is taking place on Thursday December 12 (click for details). Julie graciously agreed to participate in our growing "People and Business" section, which is where we ask some business and personal question to help the audience "get to know" some of their peers in the profession.
IA: What is Bill.com and what does the VP, Accountants Channel do at Bill.com?
JL: Bill.com is the leader in integrated bill payment, invoicing and cash flow management solutions for businesses. We are a cloud-based business that helps businesses and accountants save time and money by automating time-consuming tasks and going paperless. It can also be a profitable service and a helpful way for accountants to broaden their service and be less seasonally dependent. My job is to help accounting professionals learn about and successfully use the Bill.com Accountant Program.
IA: Did you work in the Accounting market before you worked for Bill.com?
JL: Prior to Bill.com, I worked at Intuit, leading the customer insights team and, earlier, the accountant payroll marketing team within the Employee Management Solutions division. I arrived at Intuit after Intuit acquired PayCycle, where I was the marketing director for the accountant business. I also spent ten years in a number of leadership roles at Sun Microsystems including as the global leader for marketing, sales and business development for the customer education business and worked as a consultant at Booz, Allen & Hamilton.
IA: So marketing is what you do. What's your business philosophy?
JL: Develop products and services that customers love and need. Add top-notch service and growth will follow.
IA: What keeps you up at night?
Most nights I sleep quite well. But, when I can't sleep, I wonder why every accountant isn't using Bill.com for their clients. While we are more than doubling year over year, I can't help thinking about what we can do to grow even faster. Based on what I'm hearing from customers and our high net promoter score, I know that accounting professionals love our service and that it is a game changer for them and their clients. So, I wonder how we can spread the word to other accounting professionals even faster.
IA: This is where I am supposed to say "Advertising Works. You should advertise on Intuitive Accountant!" Seriously, though, we are producing the web seminar with Joe Woodard and René Lacerte on December 12 from 2-3 EST (mentioned previously). We have over 450 people registered, so that is definitely a step in the right direction to spread the word to other accounting professionals. (Readers can register here. Here's where we get personal. What are your Hobbies (work does not count) and what is your favorite food?
JL: I enjoy biking and walking. I'm also an avid sports fan for all of the San Francisco Bay Area teams. Chicago-style deep dish pizza is my favorite.
IA: Where is your favorite place on earth?
JL: I enjoy relaxing vacations with my husband and our two teenagers. My recent favorite place was at the Club Med in Cancun, Mexico.
IA: Do you have any words of wisdom or advice for someone thinking of entering the Bookkeeping, Accounting, ProAdvisor space?
JL: It is a great time to enter the bookkeeping, accounting, and ProAdvisor space. As you enter this space, think about how you want to help your clients. Take advantage of the opportunity to leverage technology so that you can spend more time as a trusted business advisor to your clients. And, when you leverage this technology, think about the value you are adding for your clients and charge for it.
IA: Thanks for taking some time to meet with me and for sharing your insight with our audience. We look forward to working with you and Bill.com in the future.
