Three or four weeks ago Intuit rolled out some changes in QuickBooks Online. One of them prompted a number of our readers to voice their concerns to us.
In response to the emails and phone calls, Insightful Accountant asked Intuit, "What's up?"
This article is intended to give you the latest news based upon its response.
Initially, as part of the update, a key reconciliation window report showing the reconcile history of "all" accounts that had been reconciled was removed from QuickBooks Online.
Apparently, a lot of accountants and bookkeepers used this report to not only help them keep track of the accounts that had been reconciled, but, in some cases, document their own work in performing the reconciliations.
While it may seem it should be easy to simply restore a report that was removed, Intuit tells me that it's "no easy task." This is why when Intuit became aware that a lot of its users were disappointed by the removal of the report, it implemented an alternative (similar, but not entirely the same) as quickly as possible.
Reconcile Summary Report (Sept 2017)
The QBO development team is now fully aware that even the current (replacement) Summary report is not 100 percent of what the the old report was (or what the report needs to be).
Intuit wants to insure QBO users, especially accountants and bookkeepers, that the development team is diligently working to release a newly updated report that will provide at least the same, if not enhanced, functionality as the original report.
Hopefully we will all see a far better report sooner, rather than later.
