Intuit has made another enhancement to the ProAdvisor profile page as part of the overall changes they had announced for March (2018). The latest changes are designed to help ProAdvisors grow their practice by providing more information to QuickBooks users viewing the Find-a-ProAdvisor website.
The number of services a ProAdvisor can select to help describe and clarify their practice has been a much-requested option.
Certified ProAdvisors will be able to review and update their services within their QuickBooks Online Accountant profiles (as shown below).
ProAdvisor Profile Service Changes
The same thing is true for Industries served. Combined this new functionality should enable ProAdvisors to more accurately represent their practices, and connect with the right small businesses and individuals looking for a 'trusted advisor'.
There is an old saying, "Just because you can, doesn't mean you should." While you can 'check all the boxes' of Services, and Industries as well, you really should select only those that truly apply to your practice.
If you don't know a thing about 'manufacturing' or 'legal' do you truly think that you are doing yourself a favor by including those in the list of industries you serve?
If you don't provide 'bankruptcy consulting' or 'tax audit defense', do you really think you are improving your chances of getting business you really can handle by checking inapplicable boxes?
Think carefully when you check the boxes of these new options. After all, just because you 'can check them all' doesn't necessarily mean you 'should check them all.'
